Review: Radiate by Todd Anderson

Radiate Todd AndersonThanks to Kim Castro, TWC Member, for sharing this review!

Todd Anderson is a worship leader based in California’s central valley and has been songwriting and leading church services and events since 1992. Todd is Pastor of Worship at Northpointe Community Church in Fresno, California. He is also husband to Melanie and father to two beautiful girls.

In 2010 Todd went on a missions trip to India, which affected him emotionally, spiritually, and musically. The experience opened his eyes wide to the issues of global poverty and the thousands of orphans yearning for loving homes. Todd states, “The trip has also cemented the decision for our family to adopt a child from India! We will be excited to welcome a beautiful little four-year-old girl into our family very soon. Part of the motivation for doing the album was to help us raise some funds to help with the costs associated with the international adoption.” [Read more...]

What worked really well and what didn’t work as well as you’d like? What issues did you have preparing? What is the sermon series? How about creative elements used in the service? You don’t have to be the pastor or worship leader to participate. We would really love to get reviews from the perspective of those in our congregations each week.

The Marriage Preparation

Reposted with persmission from Billy Hutto who shared this at Covenant Connections Church.

If you are married you know first hand of all the detailed, carefully and deliberate arrangements that are required for a wedding. Planning usually starts months and months ahead of the wedding, and is not uncommon to start even years before the actual wedding. If you are the bride you know this to be especially true, as in our western culture and most others the wedding is centered around the bride, not the groom. Grooms, you too take part in this planning, however it is usually the bride who labors most and harbors and cherishes those times in her heart most. If you’ve never been married, most of us have been in a wedding, or know of people who have labored to prepare for the wedding day.

It is common in America these days for couples (and parents) to spend thousands of dollars, and sometimes tens of thousands, on that single day. Reserving the reception hall and church, picking the colors and theme of the wedding/reception, the dresses and tuxedos, the music, the vows, the minster, the flowers and decorations, the reception food and decor, the photography and videography, the cake, picking the small things out like napkins and dining ware, the invitations, the balloons, and the list just never ends. It takes months and months and for some years to choreograph all of these things into the perfect wedding.

How to Create a Sustainable Youth Worship Team Year to Year

One of the greatest challenges I face working with the youth band at our church is having a consistent team from year to year.

I have been extremely fortunate to have had a group of youth, all in the same grade, who have formed the core of our current youth band. They started in Jr. High and have moved up through the years. This is their Jr. year in high school though, and that means jobs, less time, more responsibilities, and eventually graduation.

Youth are only with us for limited amount of time. This means each year I will lose a few members. If I can’t find ways to engage more, younger members it’s only a short amount of time before the band is gone. So I thought I would share just a few of my thoughts on how to build a sustainable team. The Drive Home

Republished with permission from Jon Wise who blogs at www.jonwise.org.

I’ve been leading worship for 15 odd years now.

15 years of trying different things, new songs, new tones, tunings, pedals and the like.

15 years of prepping and executing, prepping and executing… repeat.

15 years of conference attending, blog reading, cd buying and coffee chatting.

After 15 years of doing all the stuff it takes to grow as a worship leader one thing rises to the top: it’s all about the drive home. [Read more...]
