Confidence is really crucial in effective vocals performance. When we are under confident we tend not to breathe as well as we should and also not to really nail the notes that strongly, so it all comes out a bit mushy. Now at Musicademy we’ve taken a fairly in-depth approach to helping worship vocalists through our vocals DVDs, so of course we would recommend going through them or alternatively getting some private lessons to help you on your specific issues, but here are some brief tips:
(Photo courtesy of Randi Anglin). I belong to a church with several volunteer musicians, of which I am one. Rob Still is our full-time worship pastor. He leads worship for our assemblies sometimes, but his primary duty (or at least one of them) is to mentor us volunteers in this thing called worship leading.
There has been lots of attention and talk given to Matt Papa’s new CD “Your Kingdom Come” from Centricity Music. With a fairly distinct style, a certain lyrical straightforwardness and comparisons to Keith Green, Matt has captured peoples’ focus with this album.
The first problem with organizing a rotation is to know who is available for each time slot. Once upon a time you would call each person one at a time and ask if they can or cannot do each slot. These days you send out some emails, and get a few less back. The next task is to arrange the replies into a table of who’s available when. [Read more...]
As a worship leader, there has been a definite lesson to learn along the way and one that I am still endeavoring to work out in my own life to the point of mastery. It is that of not getting caught up in the performance of the “show”.
From the start, Wash Away doesn’t look or sound like a typical worship album. This one rings with country music in a fresh and surprising way. Fresh, because most worship albums are filled with swirling electric guitars, synth, and rock drums. Surprising, because the country style isn’t led with an old-time gospel feel. It’s pushed by the tones of contemporary country/rock.

I’ve been considering something like this for years, and even touched on it with different episodes of the Highest Praise Worship Podcast and the Worship Interludes Podcast. Through the use of new technology and faster internet speeds, we can now interact together with online video and streaming. During our time of worship, you can sing along, play along, and even express your prayer requests and praises “live” in the chatbox.
Intimate, free-flowing, spontaneous worship and prayer. Simple and authentic. You can drop in for the entire worship service or slip in and out for a quick time of prayer, worship, and encouragement.

Ableton Live is becoming more and more popular with Worship leaders and churches because of its ease of use, and its ability to adapt to what you want it to do. It’s so easy to open the program and plug in a few tempos, drag in a few loops and your good to go. The only complaint that I’ve gotten from people that have used Live for a while (myself included!!) is that there isn’t a built in option to subdivide the click out of the box. In this article we are focusing on how to effectively Subdivide the click in Live. We will look at the process and steps to solve a few problems associated with the issue.
