I always love a good Sara Groves album, so I was excited to hear that she had a new Christmas album releasing called, “Oh Holy Night”. As I expected, the album was full of great songs that I will definitely be giving some play time this Holiday season. Only one out of twelve merits hitting “skip” on your player when it starts. Not a bad ratio.

The Gift of Imagination

Imagination is one of the most precious and powerful gifts we have received from our Creator. It is, tragically, also one of the most neglected. We have an abundance of it in childhood- I have played for hours as a Sarge to my plastic platoon of G.I. Joe Soldiers. Little girls invite all sorts of imaginary guests to their tea parties. Many of us guys have thrown the winning touchdown pass in a stadium filled with thousands of admirers, when in reality we were all by ourselves throwing a rolled-up sock into a trash can in our bedroom!

Engaging Youth in Worship-Opportunities to Respond

For most of my life the only style of worship I knew was what I would call the teacher student model. There was a choir director and pastor who sat up front and spoke, we sat in the pews and listened. What I found missing from that was the opportunity to be involved. To respond to God in ways that were not written, or scripted or printed in a hymnal.  We listened to the preacher, we listened to the choir, we listened to the scripture being read. Often I did feel that worship was boring.
